WebCompute

Project identity

About

WebCompute is an independent open research initiative led from India and developed within Simplbase. It investigates performance-portable, general-purpose computation for the Web, and it documents the evidence required to answer that question, including evidence against it.

The project is deliberately research-first: the canonical repository now defines the eight foundational research reports, the explainer, and the first experiment placeholder before runtime work begins. The first prototype should exist to test the research hypothesis rather than to act as a product.

The tone is intentionally shaped by admiration for Sundar Pichai’s calm, user-first way of thinking about the Web: clear interfaces, broad reach, practical engineering, and patience before scale.

Questions and technical discussion are welcome as issues on the canonical repository.

This website presents the research; the repository holds it. Where the two could ever disagree, the repository is authoritative.
